Not as funny as it thinks it is, not as dramatic as it probably should have been, this film plods along aimlessly towards its pointless conclusion. Structurally, it lacks the character necessary to make Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) aware of his personal issues concerning his compulsive lying habit. This results in a forced ending that happens only because two hours is a nice length for a film, not because of any great character development or meaningful conclusion. Best avoided if you can.
