Read Source Code

Knowing my interest in all things story, my brother recently suggested I take a look at ScriptShadow, a site that reviews “the latest scripts in Hollywood.” Scanning the top 25 scripts on the site, I ended up picking Source Code as the first one I would check out. I thought to myself, Well, everyone seems to have good things to say about it, maybe I’ll read a couple pages.

One hour later, I’m finished with it and completely inspired to write something of my own. It’s a really great screenplay that sucks you in from the very beginning and then keeps your interest locked in till the end. I added my reaction to the bottom of the original post, but basically:

While I recognize some of the similarities with regards to the subject matter (Groundhog Day, Deja Vu, that one X-files episode with the bank), I still felt that it pushed those thematic elements into an entirely new realm and gave us some fun sci/fi elements those other films didn’t have.

If you love storytelling, you’ve got to check it out.
