On the Waterfront - Visual Storyform

Because the Dramatica theory of story goes into such finite detail, it can be hard sometimes to really visualize how all the pieces fit together. What does one appreciation have to do with another? Are all these appreciations really that disconnected and how can I use them to write a story?

As promised, here is a “reader-friendly” version of the Visual Storyform for On the Waterfront. Having converted all the ink to text, I’ve also gone ahead and made some additional connections between topics that might not seem to be related at first glance. I’ve shown how the Main Character’s Unique Ability and Critical Flaw have an effect over the Objective Story and how the Impact Character’s similar traits have an effect on the Main Character. There are others in there as well and is likely that in the future I’ll be adding even more visual cues to future storyforms.
Of course, what is most embarrassing is that I never realized that Chris had already done something like this with the Podcast versions of the Dramatic User Group Meetings! Being a PC guy, I’ve always downloaded the MP4 version instead of the Enhanced Podcast (M4A). Whoops…didn’t know there were Bookmarks and fancy Cover Page art.
I’ll still do the mindmap/Visual Storyform version because I think they look great - but I think the next one might be a little easier considering the fact that it’s already broken up into individual chapters.
